In brief
- Lifetime license: pay once and use Office 2024 on 1 PC, without a monthly or annual fee.
- No free upgrade to future versions, but you receive security updates provided by the support cycle.
- In 2026, the perpetual license is a convenient solution for those who work on a single computer and do not want subscriptions.
- Office 2024 Professional Plus is the most complete edition for Windows PC.
What does “lifetime license” or perpetual license mean
A lifetime license for Office 2024, also known as a perpetual license, is a one-time purchase: you pay a single price and obtain the right to use that version of Office indefinitely, without monthly or annual renewals.
It is the opposite model of the Microsoft 365 subscription: with Office 2024 for life you buy a stable version of the suite, while with Microsoft 365 you pay a fee to access the service, the cloud and continuous feature updates.
Three key points to know
- One purchase, one PC: the product key activates Office on one computer. More licenses are needed for more workstations.
- “Frozen” version: you have Office 2024, but not the free upgrade to a future major version.
- Security updates included: security patches are released for the planned support cycle.
Office 2024 for life vs Microsoft 365: the difference that matters in 2026
The choice between Office 2024 lifetime license and Microsoft 365 depends mainly on how you work. Microsoft 365 is a subscription with multiple devices, OneDrive cloud storage and continuous new features. Office 2024 for life is a one-time payment, ideal for those who work mainly on a PC and want the classic tools without recurring commitments.

Is it legal and safe to buy a lifetime Office license?
Yes, purchasing a lifetime Office license is legal if you turn to a reliable seller. The resale of software licenses is recognized in the European Union, but the market also includes non-transparent offers: keys for a few euros, no invoice, no support and unverifiable product keys.
How to recognize a secure purchase
- Original product key paired with the correct edition.
- Italian invoice, essential for businesses, professionals and VAT numbers.
- Support in Italian for installation, download and activation.
- Clear company name, verifiable contacts and real reviews.
If these elements are missing, it is better to be wary: the savings of a few euros are not worth the risk of purchasing a key that cannot be activated, cannot be invoiced or without after-sales support.
How to choose the right Office license for you
The correct license depends on how many workstations you need to activate, the applications you use and the need to have an Italian invoice.
- Do you work on a single PC and want to pay once? Choose Office 2024 for life.
- Do you need Outlook for email? Consider at least Home & Business or Professional Plus.
- Do you use Access or want the complete package? Choose Office 2024 Professional Plus.
- Do you have a VAT number and need an invoice? Buy from a reseller with Italian invoicing.
- Do you want cloud, multiple devices and always new features? Consider Microsoft 365.
